This extremely low mintage 1943 50 Pesos coin is. 900 fine gold and 1.2057 troy ounces of gold, issued by the Banco de México from 1921 to 1947. It is the only year that has the inscription 37.5 Gr. ORO PURO” appear twice, replacing the original “50 PESOS inscription. Dating back to 1921, the coin was made to commemorate Mexico’s 100th anniversary of independence from Spain. The obverse features the iconic Winged Victory “The Angel of Independence” design. The reverse shows Mexico’s national coat of arms featuring a golden eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak, together with the denomination (50 Pesos) and its weight (37.5 g).
