Loved by the world over for its adorable panda illustrations, the Chinese Gold Panda is a big hit among investors and collectors because of its annual changing designs. This beautifully designed 1987 gold 25 Yuan Panda is composed of 1/4 oz. This is a great piece for coin or bullion collectors. The highly collectible Gold Panda series of coins began in 1982. The 1987 Chinese Panda gold coin is considered to be one of the most unique Panda coins ever issued because it is the only year in which this gold Panda design was minted in two seperate locations. The 1987 Panda coins keep the traditional reverse design that has been the hallmark of this great series, featuring the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the title of the People’s Republic of China, and the year of issuance. The obverse design features a Panda gently sipping water out of a pond with bamboo trees in the background, along with the denomination (25 Yuan), and purity. 999 of the coin. The only difference between the two are in the form of the mint mark on the bottom right corner of the coin (underneath the bamboo and in the pond) which designates the two different mints where the coins were minted. Coins made at the Shanghai Mint in China have a “S” mintmark, while coins with a “Y” mintmark were made at the Shenyang Mint. This is the only Panda coin series year (1987) with two mintmarks, adding an extra collectible value. This unique difference of the Panda gold series has been expected to create an added demand in the future as the Panda gold coin series continues to grow in popularity. It will definitely be one to keep an eye on. As popularity has grown, the Panda gold series has become loved by the world for its adorable panda illustration. The Chinese Gold Panda is also a big hit among investors and collectors because of its annual changing designs and continues to be a sought-after coin. Like all of our other gold coins, this one is guaranteed to be 100% authentic. By purchasing from Bullion Exchanges, you are agreeing to all of our Terms and Policies.
