This 20 Francs coin features the Ceres head on its obverse. Ceres was the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility, and motherly relationships. The head is complemented with the elements of a six-point star, and laurels. Other elements of the obverse include the inscriptions “Republique, ” “Francaise” and the engraver’s name, L. The reverse of the coin includes oak and laurel wreaths along with the denomination of the coin “20 Francs” and inscriptions “Liberte, ” “Egalite, ” and “Fraternite” which is the national motto of France.
