The Spaceview was never intended for the public marketplace. It was originally made for jewelers and watch sellers to show off the revolutionary Accutron electronic tuning fork movement to prospective buyers. Bulova was so proud of its accomplishment that they thought customers would like to see the green tuning fork movement and how right they were! So they made a crystal with the hour and minute track for customers to be able to read the time like a regular watch of the period. Without realizing it Joseph Bulova had created an absolute sensation! So the space view was born! The first Accutrons to leave the Bulova factory were in solid gold. Later on, they made them in gold filled and stainless steel cases. A Bulova Accutron Spaceview wristwatch. It has the stainless steel Accutron “B” Spaceship/Turtle lugs style case. The yellow dot Accutron spaceview is a little more collectable than the white dot spaceview as there were much fewer made. The watch is in excellent condition having undergone a complete dis-assembly, service, ultrasonic cleaning, and sanitation of the case. Every part is checked and rechecked and if needed replaced. The watch is then rebuilt from the ground up and it is ready for you to wear in excellent working condition. The watch case measures 35.8mm in diameter by 39mm from the top lug tip to bottom lug tip. Instead of white hands and a white dot crystal, this model has yellow hands with a matching yellow dot Spaceview crystal. A bit rarer so more desirable than the Spaceview crystal with the white dots and the white hands. The 214 tuning fork 17 jewel battery operated 214 tuning fork movement is very clean and has been serviced by an Accutron specialist. All vital friction points have been lubricated with the correct oils. The movement was phased and timed using the correct Bulova timing equipment and it runs great. An extra battery and an Accutron coin/wrench for removing the battery hatch is included in the box. A lovely 57-year-old timepiece that is in excellent running condition. The watch has a very nice full size JB Champion stainless steel bracelet. Also included is a black new old stock JB Champion watch band. Comes with an Accutron watch box, and a tuning fork coin for opening the battery hatch when its time to change the battery and an extra battery. When the watch is not in use the Accutron box provided will serve well to keep your watch investment safe. Get into the habit of just putting your watch in this box for storage and your 57-year-old Accutron will last you another 57 years and with your gentle care, it will be ready to be handed down to the next generation of your kids and grandkids.
